A brilliant sunny sky highlighted an outstanding weekend at Cheltenham Little League, as we celebrated closing day ceremonies with three championship baseball contests, a bounce house, fun games, great food, free ice cream, sportsmanship and volunteer awards and an overall great time.

Players from the Single A, Double A and Intermediate divisions battled it out with all players receiving either gold or silver medallions. A special thanks go to all of our coaches and managers, not only from the championship games, but for everyone who donated so much of their time and effort to make this season such a huge success.

With close to 500 people in attendance, everyone joined in the celebration on field 2 for the handing out of our special awards and words of encouragement from our President, Michael Cornelison and VP of Operations, Phil Sokol.

The Jim Schott Sportsmanship of the Year awards were bestowed upon James Brady, Destiny Martin and Darren Bey. A longtime Cheltenham board member, Mr. Schott was one of several key members of the community to help grow Cheltenham Little League to what it has become today.

The Bruce Rangnow Volunteer of the Year awards were handed out to Rasheen Rebitz and Ellen Ivory for their outstanding help throughout the season. Pete Davis, who guided our Challenger program for years, was also honored for his support of Cheltenham Little League. Mr. Rangnow, who still gives tirelessly to the community and CLL, was the Treasurer of the league for many years and is the Director of Fiscal Affairs for Cheltenham Township.

Although we say goodbye to the 2016 regular season, we now turn our focus to the Harry Schmid Invitational, which begins Wednesday, June 15th and runs through Sunday, June 19th. In addition, our tournament teams will be competing in District play starting Thursday, June 23rd, so please come out to volunteer and support our players and league.
